ERIKS is a member of Circles of Life

Emission reduction, circularity, and stricter regulations are forcing shipyards to change the way they operate. Building and maintaining ships more sustainably is no longer a choice, but a prerequisite for remaining future-proof.

That is why ERIKS is an active member of Circles of Life: an EU-funded collaboration that makes sustainability in shipbuilding tangible. No theory, but practical tools to reduce environmental impact.

One key outcome is the SEPI tool (Shipyard Environmental Performance Index). This tool provides insight into environmental performance across the entire life cycle of a vessel and directly influences how shipyards invest and what they expect from suppliers.

Maritime customers of ERIKS are increasingly confronted with:

  • energy efficiency
  • lightweight and sustainable materials
  • substantiated LCA data and circularity

ERIKS supports them with engineering expertise, material knowledge, and solutions that comply with stricter sustainability frameworks, without compromising reliability or availability.

Circles of Life shows where the sector is heading. ERIKS is actively involved.
